What Is an FBI Background Check (and Why Spain Requires It)
An FBI Criminal History Summary verifies your U.S. record via fingerprints. Spanish authorities commonly request this document, and it must carry a U.S. apostille to be legally valid in Spain under the Hague Apostille Convention.
How It Works (From Reus, Spain — Fully Remote)
Step 1 — Fingerprinting in Spain
We’ll show you how to get fingerprints taken in or near Reus, Spain:
- Local police station (ink or digital onto FD-258 cards), or
- Private fingerprinting center (FD-258 compliant)
Step 2 — We Submit to the FBI
We transmit your fingerprints to the FBI through authorized U.S. channels. Your FBI report is usually issued digitally (PDF) within 24–72 hours.
Step 3 — U.S. Apostille
We obtain the apostille from the U.S. Department of State – Office of Authentications so your FBI report is recognized in Spain.
Step 4 — Sworn Translation (Traducción Jurada)
If required, we coordinate a MAEC-authorized sworn translator so your document is accepted by Spanish offices, courts, universities, and notaries.
Step 5 — Secure Delivery
We ship your apostilled (and translated) FBI report to your address in Reus (or anywhere in Spain) via tracked courier, or return it to a U.S. address if you prefer.
👉 Note (password-protected PDFs): If your FBI report is password-protected, include the password in our order form so we can process your apostille/translation without delay.
